- Richard Loo est un acteur très prolifique qui est apparu dans plus de 120 films entre 1931 et 1982. Il était souvent cantonné à des rôles stéréotypés de pilote ennemi japonais, d'espion ou d'interrogateur pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Bien qu'il soit d'origine chinoise et né à Hawaï, il a passé une grande partie de sa jeunesse en Californie après avoir déménagé là-bas en tant qu'adolescent. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de l'Université de Californie à Berkeley, il a commencé sa carrière dans les affaires. Cependant, la crise boursière de 1929 et la Grande Dépression qui a suivi l'ont contraint à tout recommencer. Il s'est ensuite tourné vers le théâtre amateur puis professionnel, et en 1931, il a fait ses débuts au cinéma. Comme de nombreux acteurs asiatiques travaillant en dehors de l'Asie, il a principalement joué des petits rôles stéréotypés. Malgré cela, il est rapidement devenu familier, mais pas véritablement célèbre, grâce à sa participation à plusieurs films.
