Barbara Stanwyck (16 juillet 1907 - 20 janvier 1990) était une actrice américaine. Star de cinéma et de télévision, elle était connue au cours de ses 60 ans de carrière en tant que professionnelle accomplie et polyvalente avec une forte présence à l'écran et était la préférée de réalisateurs tels que Cecil B. DeMille, Fritz Lang et Frank Capra. Après un court passage comme comédienne de théâtre, elle tourne 85 films en 38 ans à Hollywood, avant de se tourner vers la télévision. Stanwyck a été nominé quatre fois aux Oscars et a remporté trois Emmy Awards et un Golden Globe. Elle a reçu des prix honorifiques à vie de la Motion Picture Academy, de la Film Society of Lincoln Center, des Golden Globes, de la Los Angeles Film Critics Association et de la Screen Actors Guild, a une étoile sur le Hollywood Walk of Fame et est classée comme onzième plus grande star féminine de tous les temps par l'American Film Institute.
