- Joan Crawford, de son vrai nom Lucille Fay LeSueur, est une actrice et productrice américaine née le 23 mars 19041 à San Antonio (Texas), morte le 10 mai 1977 à New York. Star emblématique de l’âge d’or d’Hollywood, elle a été l’une des actrices américaines dont la carrière a été la plus longue. Sa carrière couvre ainsi, sur plus de quarante ans, les différentes époques des grands studios américains, du cinéma muet jusqu'aux années 1960. Elle joua les filles délurées (les « flappers ») des années folles, les jeunes femmes arrivistes dans les années 1930, les victimes dans des mélodrames des années 1940 et 1950. Elle obtient un Oscar en 1945 pour Le Roman de Mildred Pierce et est nommée par l'American Film Institute dixième meilleure actrice de légende du cinéma.
